Quick Read: Decolonizing Economics Summit Starts Tomorrow, and We’re Now on Substack Notes
Sessions on land back, food sovereignty and more, this Thursday and Friday (and how to get future event announcements)
Hi folks,
Short post here to make sure you know about a partially online conference taking place this week that’s definitely aligned with our interests here at Unsettling. Sponsored by the Dishgamu Humboldt Community Land Trust, the 4th Decolonizing Economics Summit features panels on Land Back, traditional ecological knowledge and decolonizing restoration, seed saving and food sovereignty, and a whole lot more.
Here’s the link to the full schedule: https://decolonizingeconomicssummit.org/conference-schedule/
I’ll be attending some of those panels, and I am going to use this as an opportunity to further try out Substack’s new “Notes” feature. You may have seen some recent headlines and hoopla in the news about this, including Twitter’s momentary blocking of Substack links as they understood Notes to be something of a Twitter competitor. My take? Probably not really—more like just one other small contribution to a broader ecosystem that will, down the line, hopefully allow us to move away from some of the legacy social media companies.
In the meantime, it seems like a good place to share content that’s a bit too short to really warrant a full post and email—say, event announcements like the one above, and links to news stories and other writing you may find of interest. And this week I’ll make sure to share a bit of the conversation at Decolonizing Economics, for those who can’t attend.
Below I’ve linked to our introductory note and the details Substack has on how to join. See you over there, or in one of the online summit spaces this week!
Until next time,
Meg

How to join Notes
Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app. As a subscriber to Unsettling, you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them around!
You can also share notes of your own, allowing this to be less of a one-way exchange, for any of you who would enjoy that.
If you encounter any issues, you can always refer to the Notes FAQ for assistance. Looking forward to seeing you there.
